QUEEN OF THE CONCRETE JUNGLE , 2023

Arif Budiman, a painter who is familiarly called “Paul” , has an art education background with a major concentration in painting in the Fine Arts study program IKJ in 1991, his works have a lowbrow or pop surrealism style by expressing the richness of color composition, imaginative thoughts that depart from everyday issues, personal and his response to social issues that develop in society. Paul has also created many mural works that have been spread across various buildings, especially in Jakarta. Together with his colleague, Untung “Ruben” Budiono created a collaborative project called “The Barkomuns” which focuses on lowbrow style mural art, one of the most highlighted murals is the mural at the Jakarta Arts Institute by visualizing the figure of the female sculptor Dolorosa Sinaga. In 2023, The Barkomuns exhibited by presenting paintings at Mbloc Space Jakarta.
