Ettore Sottsass, Italian 1917-2007
Designed by the Italian postmodern master Ettore Sottsass. The lineup included a chronograph and a three-hand model. The minimalist design of the stainless steel case and the boldly colored printed glass and dial were exquisitely harmonious and original. The most distinctive feature of the chronograph watch was the three-layered glass, each layer of which had numerals or index markings printed on the back, with the three layers being bonded together in an elaborate process. The design created a mysterious impression, as if the letters were floating three-dimensionally in the air.
A collaboration collection between Seiko and Sottsass released from 2015 to 2016. Ettore Sottsass is a world-famous Italian designer who laid the foundation for modern industrial design. He may have been the first designer to create a watch design with depth and three-dimensionality, such as by using double-walled glass. This is a rare limited release POP watch with a unique presence everywhere.
